Michael G.Fuhrmann, 56, of Chandler, AZ, passed
away unexpectedly on September 27, 2015. Mike was a beloved husband,
father, grandfather, uncle, and friend.
He was born December 15, 1958 in Deadwood, SD to parents John and Sofia
Fuhrmann. Mike enjoyed growing up in Deadwood, roaming the Black Hills,
and graduated from Lead High School in 1977. He went on to attend the
University of South Dakota in Vermillion and graduated with a BA in
1981. After graduation he went to work for Peter Kiewit & Sons and
traveled the west in his 20+ years with the company. In 1997, Mike and
his family settled in Arizona. There he enjoyed the warm winters and
hiking throughout the state, including his annual single-day hike of the
Grand Canyon, North Rim to South Rim, which he has completed the past 8
years. He spent the last decade working as a Divisional Controller for
FNF Construction in Tempe. The role he cherished most, however, was
being Grandpa to his young granddaughter, Edith Mae. Mike was known for
being a fitness fanatic, working out before dawn 5 days a week, and his
impressive weightlifting feats. His primary passions were home
improvement projects (much to the benefit of his family), working on his
cabin in Pine, AZ, and chocolate, preferably chocolate milk.
Mike is survived by his wife, Rosemary; children, Eric (Jennifer) of
Tempe, AZ, and Angela of Chandler, AZ; granddaughter, Edith Mae; sister,
Sophia Bichler of Deadwood, SD; sisters-in-law Barbara Fuhrmann of
Lewisville, TX, and Judith Radelat of Chandler, AZ; brother-in-law Dale
(Jeanne) McFall of Ozark, MO; and nieces and nephews, Mary (Larry)
Bonrud of Spearfish, SD, Linda (Don) Willis of Redding, CA, Trina (Ward)
Colt of Titusville, NJ, Timothy (Maria) Fuhrmann of Yardley, PA,
Christy (Glen) Sullivan of Flower Mound, TX, Natalie (Michael) Allnutt
of Flower Mound, TX, Frank (Nicole) Ambrosino of Palm Bay, FL, Gina
(Kristine) Ambrosino of Cibolo, TX, and numerous great-nieces and
nephews. Mike is preceded in death by his parents, John and Sofia;
brother, John Fuhrmann; sister, Katy Fuhrmann; brother-in-law, Fred
Bichler; and nephew, David Bichler.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 4-6 PM on Sunday,
October 4, 2015 at the Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish, SD.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, October 5, 2015, at
Grace Lutheran Church, 827 Main St, Deadwood, SD 57732, followed by
interment at Oakridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be
made to Grace Lutheran Church of Deadwood.
