The Bureau of Labor Statistics cites that volunteers spent a
median of 52 hours on volunteer activities during the period from September
2014 to September 2015. Among those who volunteered, median annual hours
spent on volunteer activities ranged from a low of 36 hours for those under
35 years old to a high of 94 hours for those aged 65 and over. According to
The Corporation for National and Community Service, in 2015, 1 in 4 Americans
volunteered 7.9 billion hours, which equated to an estimated value of $184
billion! In fact, volunteering has increased by 60% since 1974, when
President Nixon created the first National Volunteer Week!
CFMA thanks you for all your volunteer hours and wishes you
happy National Volunteer Month!
