Good news from the Phoenix Business Journal:

Home builder confidence reaches 6-year high
Phoenix Business Journal by Adam Kress, New Media Editor

Confidence among U.S. home builders has reached its highest level in six years.
The National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index, released today, shows builder confidence in the market for newly built, single-family homes rose in September for the fifth consecutive month. The index rose three points, to 40 -- the highest mark since June 2006.

The increase in builder confidence nationwide also was reflected in Arizona. A recent report from Arizona State University found new-home sales in the Phoenix area have surged 58 percent since last July, while construction permits jumped by a staggering 87 percent during the same period.
