2016 Pioneer Award Recipient

Mike Markham, Sr.

This year's Pioneer Award recipient is Michael Markham, Sr.  Mr. Markham has been committed to the construction industry for the past 42 years after earning his B.S. degree in Construction Engineering from Arizona State University in 1973.  He started Markham Contracting Co., Inc. out of his garage in 1977 and has successfully grown it to be one of the largest locally owned civil construction companies in Arizona.
Since Markham's incorporation, Mike has been devoted to building an organization that does the right thing and that treats people right.  In addition to his commitment to the families of Markham Contracting, he is dedicated to the construction industry. Currently he serves on ASU's Del E. Webb School of Construction Advisory Council and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Arizona Chapter of the AGC.  Mike has always been very active in the ASA serving as the Arizona Chapter President, a National Director and on its National Executive Committee.
Beyond the construction industry, Mike has been involved with the Juvenile Diabetes Association as a Board Member.  He has contributed to hundreds of volunteer projects including the annual Valley Partnership community project.  Mike and the Markham team have been recognized as the only Arizona recipient to receive the National ASA Excellence in Ethics Award annually since its inception in 2009.
