Michael "Mike" Fuhrmann (December 15, 1958 - September 27, 2015)

Michael G.Fuhrmann, 56, of Chandler, AZ, passed away unexpectedly on September 27, 2015. Mike was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend.        He was born December 15, 1958 in Deadwood, SD to parents John and Sofia Fuhrmann. Mike enjoyed growing up in Deadwood, roaming the Black Hills, and graduated from Lead High School in 1977. He went on to attend the University of South Dakota in Vermillion and graduated with a BA in 1981. After graduation he went to work for Peter Kiewit & Sons and traveled the west in his 20+ years with the company. In 1997, Mike and his family settled in Arizona. There he enjoyed the warm winters and hiking throughout the state, including his annual single-day hike of the Grand Canyon, North Rim to South Rim, which he has completed the past 8 years. He spent the last decade working as a Divisional Controller for FNF Construction in Tempe. The role he cherished most, however, was bei...

by Marj Weber     When checking my records I found the last "around the Chapter" was published in July 2014! So much has happened in that 14 months there's just not enough space to review.   Though review is not necessary, since Michelle does such a great job of keeping the membership informed via this monthly newsletter.   So, that being said, I do want to talk about a couple of events that happened over this past summer (though it still feels like SUMMER!).     First and foremost, the 2015 CFMA Annual Conference in Chicago.   It was in Chicago in 1997 that I attended my first Annual Conference and I have attended all since (18 of them, in case you didn't want to do the math).   At that 1997 Conference, I was inspired by two women: first, Dottee Mulcahy from our own Chapter as she received the Debra Hahn Memorial Award: and second, Christine Thompson as she became the first woman President (now called Chair) of CFMA on the Nation...
