Mike Markham, Sr. This year's Pioneer Award recipient is Michael Markham, Sr. Mr. Markham has been committed to the construction industry for the past 42 years after earning his B.S. degree in Construction Engineering from Arizona State University in 1973. He started Markham Contracting Co., Inc. out of his garage in 1977 and has successfully grown it to be one of the largest locally owned civil construction companies in Arizona. Since Markham's incorporation, Mike has been devoted to building an organization that does the right thing and that treats people right. In addition to his commitment to the families of Markham Contracting, he is dedicated to the construction industry. Currently he serves on ASU's Del E. Webb School of Construction Advisory Council and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Arizona Chapter of the AGC.
