John is a third-generation electrician. JFK was the first Certified Green Contractor through the Associated Builders and Contractors and is the first electrical contractor certified in the nation. Past-president of the Arizona Builders Alliance and Life Director where he also serves as board member and committee member with several organizations locally and nationally. John has been married to wife, Debra for 34 years and has a son, Brandon who is key to the JFK organization and a daughter, Ashley, who is a senior at ASU College of Nursing and Health Innovation.

Sissie Roberts Shank started with Chas Roberts in summer after seventh grade, filing in the accounting office.   She started doing small programming work and eventually led the company from all manual processes into the computer era.   This enabled her to learn about all the different aspects of the business from a procedural standpoint.   After her father passed away in 1999, Roberts-Shank took the CEO position at Chas. In a "good 'ole boy system", where the previous leader is not only physically imposing, (6'4, 230lbs), but also very knowledgeable on all technical aspects, she was at quite a disadvantage from the onset.   "They are never going to make it", seemed to be the mantra both internally and externally, but Chas Roberts did and it sent a message that no one person is more important than the success of the whole. Scholarship Requirements and Application
The Valley of the Sun Chapter of the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA) will award an educational scholarship up to $2,500 in value for each semester. (Summer sessions do not qualify.) We acknowledge that one of our primary goals is education. We also acknowledge the need for qualified employees in the construction field. These needs will be filled largely by students graduating from our area schools. We hope these scholarships will prove to be an investment in the Arizona field of construction by providing promising financial/construction professionals with some assistance while completing their studies. The applicant should demonstrate the following qualities and skills: Has received or will receive a diploma from an accredited high school. Have a grade point average between 3.00 and 4.00 (if already enrolled in college or technical school) or GPA between 3.40 and 4.00 (if graduating fro…

Robert "Bo" Calbert, president of McCarthy Building Companies Southwest Region, oversees the 150 year-old firm's construction operations in Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado and Utah. Under his leadership, McCarthy earned the prestigious industry honor of being named 2014 Contractor of the Year by Engineering-News Record Southwest. During his more than 30-years with McCarthy Bo has been involved in building communities across more than 10 states with major projects in healthcare, semiconductor, water/wastewater, solar, education, hospitality and entertainment, laboratory, aviation, office and retail. In addition, his community leadership encompasses involvement in civic, industry and non-profit organizations, including Greater Phoenix Leadership, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Alliance for Construction Excellence, Arizona Builders Alliance, Scottsdale Airport Advisory Commission and the Caitlin Robb Foundation.
