OSHA Announces New Reporting Requirements

by Chuck Paulausky, CHMM; CP Safety & Environmental, LLC. Previously, employers were required to report all workplace fatalities and any incident resulting in hospitalization of three or more workers from the same incident.     Effective on January 1, 2015, this rule changed.  Now an employer must contact OSHA for the following events:  Report all work-related fatalities within 8 hours  Report within 24 hours of learning about the incident:  All inpatient hospitalizations  Any amputation  Any loss of an eye. This allows OSHA and employers to prevent future injuries by identifying and eliminating the most serious workplace hazards.   If one of these incidents occurs, employers will have three options for reporting to OSHA. Call their nearest area office during normal business hours, Call the 24-hour OSHA hotline at 1-800-321-6742, or Submit the report using an online form that will be available after mid-January at http

Here is a message from this years CFMA Chairman: As CFMA’s Chairman, I am proud to announce that CFMA is now more than 7,000 members strong! Ending the calendar year at 7,012 members, this milestone reflects the value CFMA members see in our programs, our services, and the relationships they form. When I became Chairman, I spoke about CFMA’s Strength in Numbers – the strength of our members and their connections, of our volunteer leaders, of our sponsors, and of our educational programs. Since our core strength is at the chapter level, we committed more than $250,000 this year through the STAR Program to help our Chapters expand opportunities for their members. This is in addition to the traditional support we provide to Chapters. We continue to work hard to improve the member experience. As we enter the next phase of strategic planning, our educational offerings will expand, our webinars will keep us informed, and the Connection CafĂ© will keep us linked. Our current 12+ promotion
